The ABC Festival will be held for the 8th time this year. The actual 8th festival was supposed to take place in 2020 and had to be cancelled due to Covid. In June 2022 we held a one-day mini-festival and now in 2023 there will be a real festival again, which is a bit smaller than usual but we are still really looking forward to it! And once again we have put together an extensive program. As many already know, we organize the festival for different reasons. A large part of the festival is about collecting money. This is used to provide financial support for comrades who are in jail or who are on trial and have to pay lawyer’s fees. We also use the money to support friendly projects whose struggle is also against repression, imprisonment, control, discipline and authority. We need money for printing costs, books and other materials for mobilization and the sharing of anarchistic ideas, experiences, struggles and analyses.

We also do the festival to give us all an opportunity to meet, get to know, discuss and perhaps collaborate with each other on some ideas. We want to strengthen the notion of anarchism, solidarity and prisoner support as well as the struggle against prison, control and authority. For this reason there will again be a series of events held by different individuals and groups, hopefully leading to exciting and enriching discussions. We see this as an opportunity to exchange and deepen knowledge and support between the combatants of different territories and contexts. Therefore we appreciate a broad participation in the discussions. In addition, there will be information and book tables from various projects every day.

The struggle against the prisons and with the prisoners is a fundamental claim of a subversive anarchist movement. The confrontation with prisons and the use of repression is part of our understanding as anarchists. It cannot simply be eliminated from our other initiatives. Not only because at a certain point of activity we can all be affected in one way or another. But because jail is an obstacle to a free, independent life.

So jail and repression have always been an integral part of our struggle for freedom. Wherever we look in history, the danger of reaction and persecution is everywhere for all who have been in search of freedom and who have rebelled against oppression. All that remains is the question: how to deal with it? Which tactics can be used to protect and defend us? To continue to attack this order of authority and isolation, exploitation and profit. The Anarchist Black Cross (ABC) is a network that has existed for a long time. Its central focus has always been on supporting prisoners. This focus ranged from sending parcels and letters, organizing escape routes and collecting money, to building defense structures and directly attacking prisons. Depending on what a particular group considered necessary or feasible, or considered useful or primary in a specific situation. In any case, it was always about overcoming the walls they had built to isolate us from the prisoners.

Jail is just another stage in the anarchist struggle. It is not the end or the beginning of something special that has nothing to do with our previous activities and the world in which we live. Clearly, life continues under different conditions. But jail is not automatically a place where everything ends. The prisoners inside and we on the outside must be able to discuss equally. Those inside must also be included in our discussions. For they do not live in another world, but are part of our struggles. The structures that we try to build up are there to reduce this separation between inside and outside at least a bit. Isolation is a goal of prison, but we do not have to accept this intention. We see it as one of the most important tasks of prisoner support not to let the contact break. Communicating with the prisoners, publishing their letters and texts, disseminating information about their situation, material support and everything that goes with it should be part of our fundamental equipment as well as many other skills, knowledge and activities that we see as important components of the anarchist struggle.

The state and the global capitalist regime attack us every day. Through different forms of coercion that have existed since our birth. Beginning with the chains of the family and the institutions in which we grow up. In the schools we are bent into shape in order to be more usable later within this modern economic dictatorship. The pressure to exploit always begins earlier and earlier. Class society seems to be becoming more caste-like again. Later there are special jobs that we are forced to do because of our level of education, our criminal record, our passport, our ethnicity, our gender and our character. Within these processes, deviation is still punished with repression, even if it is more subtle in the democratic system, so the tendencies show, through the restructuring of capitalism more and more towards stronger discipline and punishment. Jail remains the logical consequence for those who do not or cannot bow to the cycle of production, consumption, efficiency, normality, discipline and conformity, and who resort to other means of daily survival.

Thus, violations of the relationship of property still account for most of the “crimes” in today’s society. In addition, the bourgeois media and state instrumentalize and promote a number of acts of violence whose roots lie in the patriarchal, forceful, hierarchical and violent structures of the state, society and the economy itself.

For these reasons, we cannot see prison as an isolated problem. Because it belongs to this society and to the state authority. For these circumstances there are no demands and reforms. It is up to us to look for ways to oppose this world of isolation, punishment and exploitation.

We want to greet here all anarchist prisoners, and also all prisoners behind bars who have tried to realize their freedom by taking revenge in power, ignoring the dictates of property or being dismissed as illegal, different or crazy because of any category.

We greet all who believe in freedom and autonomy.

Warum ein Soli-Fest für ABC Wien?

Das ABC-Festival wird dieses Jahr zum 8. Mal stattfinden. Das eigentliche 8 Festival sollte 2020 stattfinden und musste aufgrund Covids abgesagt werden. Im Juni 2022 haben wir dann ein eintägiges Minifestival veranstaltet und jetzt 2023 gibt es wieder ein richtiges Festival, das zwar etwas kleiner ist also gewöhnlich aber wir freuen uns trotzdem drauf! Und auch dieses Mal haben wir ein umfangreiches Programm zusammengestellt. Wie viele bereits wissen, organisieren wir das Festival aus unterschiedlichen Gründen. Einen großen Teil macht das Sammeln von Kohle aus. Dieses fließt in die finanzielle Unterstützung von Gefährt*innen, die im Knast sind oder denen der Prozess gemacht wird, und Anwaltskosten zu tragen haben. Wir verwenden das Geld weiters, um befreundete Projekte zu unterstützen, deren Kampf sich ebenfalls gegen Repression, Knast, Kontrolle, Disziplinierung und Autorität richtet. Genauso benötigen wir Kohle für Druckkosten, Bücher und andere Materialien zur Agitation und der Vermittlung anarchistischer Ideen, Erfahrungen, Kämpfen und Analysen.

Wir machen das Festival auch, um uns allen eine Möglichkeit zu bieten, uns zu treffen, kennen zu lernen, zu diskutieren und vielleicht die eine oder andere Idee gemeinsam zu entwickeln. Wir wollen die Idee(n) des Anarchismus, der Solidarität und der Gefangenenunterstützung sowie des Kampfes gegen das Gefängnis, die Kontrolle und die Autorität stärken. Aus diesem Grund wird es wieder eine Reihe von Veranstaltungen geben, die von unterschiedlichen Individuen und Gruppen gehalten werden, und hoffentlich zu spannenden und bereichernden Diskussionen führen. Wir betrachten dies als Möglichkeit zum Austausch und der Vertiefung von Kenntnis und Unterstützung zwischen den Kämpfenden unterschiedlicher Territorien und Zusammenhänge. Deshalb freuen wir uns auch über eine breite Beteiligung an den Diskussionen. Außerdem wird es jeden Tag Info- und Büchertische von verschiedenen Projekten geben.

Der Kampf gegen die Gefängnisse und mit den Gefangenen ist ein fundamentaler Anspruch einer subversiven, anarchistischen Bewegung. Die Auseinandersetzung mit dem Gefängnis und der Repression ist Teil unseres Verständnisses als Anarchist*innen. Sie lässt sich aus unseren anderen Initiativen nicht einfach eliminieren. Nicht nur, weil wir ab einem gewissen Punkt von Aktivität, alle auf die eine oder andere Art und Weise davon betroffen sein können. Sondern weil Knast ein Hindernis für ein freies, unabhängiges Leben ist.

So sind Knast und Repression immer auch fester Bestandteil unseres Kampfes, um die Freiheit gewesen. Wo wir in der Geschichte auch hinblicken, die Gefahr der Reaktion und der Verfolgung ist allgegenwärtig für alle, die auf der Suche nach der Freiheit waren, und sich gegen die Unterdrückung aufgelehnt haben. Bleibt nur die Frage: Wie damit umgehen? Was können also Taktiken sein, um uns zu schützen und zu verteidigen? Um weiterhin diese Ordnung der Autorität und Vereinzelung, der Ausbeutung und des Profits angreifen zu können. Das Anarchistische Schwarze Kreuz/Anarchist Black Cross (ABC) ist ein Netzwerk, das es seit langer Zeit gibt. Sein zentraler Fokus lag immer auf der Unterstützung der Gefangenen. Dieser Fokus reichte vom Verschicken von Paketen und Briefen, über die Organisierung von Fluchtmöglichkeiten und das Sammeln von Geld bis zum Aufbau von Verteidigungsstrukturen und dem direkten Angriff auf die Gefängnisse. Je nachdem, was eine bestimmte Gruppe für erforderlich oder machbar hielt, oder in einer spezifischen Situation für sinnvoll oder primär erachtete. In jedem Fall ging es darum die Mauern zu überwinden, die sie aufgebaut haben, um uns und die Gefangenen voneinander zu isolieren.

Der Knast ist lediglich eine weitere Etappe des anarchistischen Kampfes. Er ist nicht das Ende oder der Anfang von etwas Speziellem, das mit unseren vorherigen Aktivitäten und der Welt, in der wir leben, nichts mehr zu tun hätte. Klarerweise wird das Leben unter anderen Bedingungen fortgesetzt. Aber der Knast ist nicht automatisch ein Ort, an dem alles zu Ende geht. Die Gefangenen drinnen und wir hier draussen müssen auf der gleichen Ebene diskutieren können. Diejenigen drinnen müssen auch in unsere Diskussionen miteinbezogen werden. Denn sie leben nicht in einer andere Welt, sondern sind Teil unserer Kämpfe. Die Strukturen, die wir versuchen aufzubauen, sind dazu da, diese Trennung zwischen drinnen und draussen zumindest ein Stück weit abzubauen. Die Isolation ist ein Ziel des Gefängnisses, aber wir müssen diese Intention nicht akzeptieren. So sehen wir es als eine der wichtigsten Aufgaben der Gefangenenunterstützung, den Kontakt nicht abbrechen zu lassen. Die Kommunikation mit den Gefangenen, die Veröffentlichung ihrer Briefe und ihrer Texte, das Verbreiten von Informationen über ihre Situation, die materielle Unterstützung und alles, was dazugehört, sollten zu unserer fundamentalen Ausrüstung genauso gehören, wie viele andere Fertigkeiten, Wissen und Aktivitäten, die wir als wichtige Bestandteile des anarchistischen Kampfes betrachten.

Der Staat und das globale, kapitalistische Regime greift uns jeden Tag an. Durch unterschiedliche Formen von Zwang, die seit unserer Geburt bestehen. Beginnend mit den Fesseln der Familie und den Institutionen, in denen wir aufwachsen. In den Schulen werden wir zurecht gebogen, um später innerhalb dieser modernen Wirtschaftsdiktatur besser verwertbar zu sein. Der Verwertungsdruck beginnt immer früher und früher. So scheint die Klassengesellschaft wieder kastenartiger zu werden. Später gibt es spezielle Arbeiten, zu denen wir gezwungen werden, aufgrund unseres Ausbildungsgrades, unseres Vorstrafenregisters, unseres Passes, unserer ethnischen Zugehörigkeit, unseres Geschlechts und unseres Charakters. Innerhalb dieser Prozesse wird Abweichung immer noch mit Repression bestraft, auch wenn diese im demokratischen System subtiler ist, so zeigen die Tendenzen, durch die Restrukturierungen des Kapitalismus immer mehr in Richtung von stärkerer Disziplinierung und Bestrafung. Der Knast bleibt die logische Konsequenz für diejenigen, die sich dem Kreislauf von Produktion, Konsum, Effizienz, Normalität, Disziplin und Konformität nicht beugen wollen oder auch nicht können, und zu anderen Mitteln des täglichen Überlebens greifen.

So machen die Verstöße gegen das Verhältnis des Eigentums immer noch den größten Teil der „Verbrechen“ in der heutigen Gesellschaft aus. Daneben eine von bürgerlichen Medien und Staat instrumentalisierte und beliebig propagierte Zahl von Gewalttaten, deren Wurzel in den patriarchalen, zwanghaften, hierarchischen und gewalttätigen Strukturen des Staates, der Gesellschaft und der Ökonomie selbst zu suchen sind.

Aus diesen Gründen können wir das Gefängnis nicht als ein isoliertes Problem betrachten. Denn es gehört zu dieser Gesellschaft und zur staatlichen Autorität dazu. Für diese Umstände gibt es keine Forderungen und Reformen. Es liegt an uns selbst nach Wegen zu suchen, dieser Welt der Isolation, Strafe und Ausbeutung etwas entgegen zu halten.

Wir wollen an dieser Stelle alle anarchistischen Gefangenen grüßen, und außerdem alle Gefangenen die sich hinter Gittern befinden, weil sie versucht haben ihre Freiheit zu verwirklichen, indem sie sich an der Macht gerächt haben, das Diktat des Eigentums missachtet haben oder aufgrund irgendwelcher Kategorien als illegal, anders oder verrückt abqualifiziert werden.

Wir grüßen alle, die an die Freiheit und die Autonomie glauben.

The location is not barrier-free. There are many steps and the concerts are in the basement. Nevertheless, we are happy about all visitors – please let us know at the info point or the bar how we can support you. There is a wheelchair-accessible toilet & the Beisl is accessible without steps.

the whole festival is running solely on diy non-profit basis, which means everyone involved is ‘working’ voluntarily. there is no personal financial gain from any of the jobs which must get done at a festival. not the bands not the bar people not the sound engineer, not the cooks cleaners or or or .. whatever plus is made is made entirely for benefit reasons of the ABC vienna and so therefore the people sitting in prison will benefit from whatever comes from this festival.

DIY 2.
if at any stage during the festival you see any sort of assault, do not look away, if you can step between, ask the affected person if everything is alright or if they need help, DO NOT LOOK AWAY. the people on the bar are always ready to support as far as possible. we don’t need police or any other figure of authority to solve our conflicts.

friday & saturday from 4-8 pm we offer Babysitting/childcare with experienced and trustfull comrades. ask @ infopoint or write a mail. Meeting point is in the yard.

Das EKH ist nicht barrierefrei. Es gibt viele Stufen und die Konzerte sind im Keller. Dennoch freuen wir uns über alle Besucher*innen – bitte sagt am Infopoint oder der Bar Bescheid, wie wir dich unterstützen können. Es gibt ein rollstuhl-gerechtes Klo & das Beisl ist ohne Stufen befahrbar.

Falls ihr während des Festivals Übergriffe welcher Art auch immer mitbekommt oder davon betroffen seid, greift ein, fragt nach, schaut nicht weg. Und ihr könnt euch jederzeit an die Menschen an der Bar wenden, die euch unterstützen werden. Wir brauchen keine Polizei, etc. um unsere Konflikte zu lösen.

Kinder.
Freitag und Samstag von 16-20 Uhr gibt es Kinder-Betreuung von erfahrenen und vertrauensvollen Menschen. Fragt am Infopoint nach oder schreibt uns ein Mail. Bei Schönwetter ist der Treffpunkt dafür im Hof.
Außerdem haben wir eine generelle “Kids-welcome”-Policy, das heißt, auch bei den Workshops und Vorträgen sind Kinder willkommen, es wird eine eigene Kinderecke mit Büchern und Malsachen geben und die Räume sind rauchfrei.

Parken.
Im 10. Bezirk rund um das EKH ist Parken nur Samstag und Sonntag kostenlos bzw. unter der Woche zwischen 22 – 9 Uhr. Achtet darauf, in keiner Kurzparkzone zu stehen (blaue Linien + Hinweisschilder).

15 Uhr: Zerstören wir den Leviathan – Über die Unvereinbarkeit von Anarchie und Zivilisation

“Sie verunstalten die Erde mit ihren Konstruktionen und ihrem Abfall. Diese Nation ist wie ein Strom geschmolzenen Schnees, der sein Bett verlässt und alles auf seinem Weg zerstört.”

Die Zerstörung der Erde schreitet immer weiter voran. Tag für Tag, Jahr für Jahr, wird Fläche um Fläche zubetoniert, die Erde aufgerissen, Flüsse und Gewässer vergiftet, Wüste um Wüste geschaffen. Während tagtäglich und das auch vor unseren Augen die lebendige Welt in eine tote verwandelt wird, haben die Mächtigen einen Propagandasturm entfesselt, der das Massaker an Erde und Lebewesen auf die „Klimafrage“ reduziert und einen „grünen“ Kapitalismus bewirbt. Dabei soll die Energie, die zum Betreiben des gigantischen Apparats, in dem wir heute leben, vonnöten ist, von fossilen Brennstoffen auf „erneuerbare Energien“ umgestellt werden.

Etwas an dem sich auch viele antikapitalistisch eingestellte Menschen nicht stoßen, solange diese „erneuerbare Energie“ für eine Produktion eingesetzt wird, die den Menschen vermeintlich nützt. Während sie also technologische Lösungen für ein technologisch verursachtes Problem vorschlagen, während sie Autos verdammen und Züge als die vermeintlich „ökologischere“ Alternative preisen, während sie Windräder und Solarpanels bewerben, beteiligen sich diejenigen, die die Produktionsmittel an sich reißen wollen, um diese wahrhaft zum Wohle der Menschheit einzusetzen, weiter am Massaker an der lebendigen Welt. Denn ob („grüner“) Kapitalismus, (Öko-)Faschismus, oder (Anarcho-)Kommunismus (oder einer seiner vielen Spielarten), sie alle eint das Festhalten an der industriellen Produktion, an einem Verhältnis zur Natur, zu deren Kreisläufen sie sich nicht zugehörig fühlen, am Kolonialismus und am Extraktivismus, kurz an der Zivilisation.

Und so können sie sich nur darüber wundern, dass etwa die wenigen Nachfahren der durch die europäischen Kolonisatoren abgeschlachteten Indigenen auf dem chilenisch besetzten Gebiet den Bau von Wasserkraftwerken sabotieren und die Forstwirtschaft angreifen. Dass Individuen in der französischen Kolonie Neukaledonien die Förderbänder der so sehr für die „Dekarbonisierung“ benötigten Nickel- und Kobalt-Minen abfackeln. Dass in Frankreich Umspannwerke und Windräder brennen. Rückständigkeit und die „Verklärung überkommener Lebensweisen“?
Oder das konsequente Zuendedenken antiherrschaftlicher Kritik, die (industrielle) Produktion, Kolonialismus und Extraktivisimus in ihre Analyse mit einbezieht?

Wir wollen die klassische anarchistische Kritik an Herrschaft, Staat und Kapital erweitern, um anschließend mit euch in Diskussion zu treten, über Zivilisation, Kolonialismus und industrielle Produktion, und was man angesichts der Megamaschine, mit der wir konfrontiert sind, tun kann.

17 Uhr: Fallen und Chancen von Antirepressionsarbeit
Nicht mit den Bullen reden – das würden wohl die meisten politisch aktiven Menschen unterschreiben. Gleichzeitig passiert es häufig, dass dann doch vor Gericht Einlassungen oder Aussagen gemacht werden.
Mit anarchistischem Blick auf Repressionsbetroffene- und Gefangenen-Unterstützung wollen wir darüber reden, was das für Gründe und Folgen haben kann. Außerdem wollen wir einen kritischen Blick auf vorherrschende Bilder von Knast, falschen Hoffnungen, Repression und den Gerechtigkeitsbegriff werfen.

15 Uhr: Vorstellung konkreter Fälle von anarchistischen Gefangenen in Chile zusammen mit einem kritischen Blick auf unsere Unterstützung für Gefangene in Chile

In Chile ist die Straßenrevolte und die Konfrontation auf der Straße gegen die Polizei sehr konstant. Nicht erst seit dem “sozialen Aufstand” im Jahr 2019, sondern schon seit längerem. Was die Anarchisten betrifft, so gehören dazu nicht nur Straßenkämpfe, sondern auch andere Formen von Angriffen wie Bomben, Attentate. usw.

Es ist normal, dass dies Konsequenzen in verschiedenen Aspekten mit sich bringt, die in erster Linie zwischen den Anarchist*innen selbst und nicht mit den Institutionen der Macht kollidieren. Unsere Präsentation soll einen Rückblick geben und über eine Handvoll anarchistischer Gefangener in Chile sprechen, die nicht nur von der Gesellschaft verfolgt wurden, sondern auch von GenossInnen, die der Meinung sind, dass ihre Methoden nicht “korrekt” waren. Daran schließt sich eine offene Debatte darüber an, welche Methoden für anarchistische Aktionen in einer Welt, die im Elend versinkt, gültig sind und welche Situationen wir noch durchleben müssen, damit anarchistische Gefangene nicht in Vergessenheit geraten.

Der Vortrag wird in deutscher Sprache von einem spanischen Muttersprachler gehalten.

17 Uhr: Frauen bilden Gruppen – Die Entwicklung der anarchafeministischen Gruppen in Griechenland in den letzten Jahren: Präsentation von der Gruppe „Salome“ aus Athen.

In den letzten Jahren ist in Griechenland etwas noch nie Dagewesenes passiert. Sehr viele Frauengruppen wurden im anarchistischen Raum und darüber hinaus gegründet, während gleichzeitig der griechische „Metoo“ ausbrach. Die jeweilige feministische Welle kam mit Verspätung nach Griechenland und fand bisher in der Gesellschaft des „patriarchalischen Südens“ keine breite Akzeptanz. Ziel ist es, nach einem kurzen historischen Rückblick auf die Präsenz von Frauengruppen in der anarchistischen Bewegung seit der ´80er Jahre, das Bild der anarchistischen feministischen Bewegung unserer Zeit zu präsentieren, nach den Ursachen für die Massenbildung von Frauengruppen, nach ihrer Ausrichtung, ihrer Verbindung zur breiteren Gesellschaft und ihren Grenzen zu suchen.

Auch wollen wir kurz über die Situation der Frauen und der Personen in schwächeren gesellschaftlichen Positionen ganz allgemein in Griechenland sprechen, über die Folgen der Lock Downs, der andauernden wirtschaftlichen Krisen und der Ausbreitung der Ausbeutung.

19.30: Repression gegen Klimakämpfe in Österreich
Spätestens seit 2019 ist die Klimagerechtigkeitsbewegung auch in Österreich ein deutlich wahrnehmbarer Teil des linken Protestspektrums. Mit Blockaden, Besetzungen und spontanen Versammlungen wird ein breites Spektrum an Aktionsformen angewandt. Dass bewusste Verschleiern der Identität gehört dabei ebenso dazu wie eine gut durchchoreographierte Aktionsplanug und eine professionelle Pressearbeit. Höhepunkte waren die Baustellenbesetzungen in der Lobau und die internationalen Proteste gegen die “European Gas Konferenz”.

In der Veranstaltung wollen wir diskutieren wie die Repressionsbehörden auf die Aktionsformen aus der Klimabewegung reagieren, was sich in den letzten Jahren verändert hat und wo wir Gemeinsamkeiten und Unterschiede im Vergleich mit anderen sozialen Bewegungen beobachten.

Let’s destroy the Leviathan – On the Incompatibility of Anarchy and Civilization

“They deface the earth with their constructions and waste. This nation is like a stream of melted snow that leaves its bed and destroys everything in its path.”

The destruction of the earth continues to progress. Day after day, year after year, area after area is concreted over, the earth is torn up, rivers and waters are poisoned, desert after desert is created. While every day and before our eyes the living world is transformed into a dead one, the powerful have unleashed a propaganda storm that reduces the massacre of the earth and living beings to the “climate issue” and promotes a “green” capitalism. In the process, the energy needed to run the gigantic apparatus in which we live today is to be converted from fossil fuels to “renewable energy.”

Something that even many anti-capitalist-minded people don’t mind, as long as this “renewable energy” is used for production that supposedly benefits people. So while they propose technological solutions to a technologically caused problem, while they condemn cars and praise trains as the supposedly more “ecological” alternative, while they promote wind turbines and solar panels, those who want to usurp the means of production in order to use them truly for the benefit of humanity continue to participate in the massacre of the living world. For whether (“green”) capitalism, (eco-)fascism, or (anarcho-)communism (or one of its many varieties), they are all united by their adherence to industrial production, to a relationship with nature to whose cycles they do not feel they belong, to colonialism and extractivism, in short, to civilization.

And so they can only be surprised that, for example, the few descendants of the indigenous people slaughtered by the European colonizers in the Chilean-occupied territory sabotage the construction of hydroelectric plants and attack forestry. That individuals in the French colony of New Caledonia are torching the conveyor belts of nickel and cobalt mines so needed for “decarbonization.” That substations and wind turbines are burning in France. Backwardness and the “transfiguration of outdated ways of life”?

Or the consequent thinking of anti-domination critique, which includes (industrial) production, colonialism and extractivism in its analysis?

We want to expand the classical anarchist critique of domination, state and capital, and then enter into discussion with you about civilization, colonialism and industrial production, and what can be done in the face of the mega-machine we are confronted with.

@ 5 pm: Pitfalls and opportunities of anti-repression work

Don’t talk to the cops – that’s probably what most politically active people would sign. At the same time, it often happens that statements are made in court.

With an anarchist view on repression and prisoner support we want to talk about what reasons and consequences this can have. We also want to take a critical look at prevailing images of prison, false hopes, repression and the concept of justice.

@ 3 pm: Presentation of concrete cases of anarchist prisoners together with a critical look at our support for prisoners in Chile.

In Chile, street revolt and confrontation in the streets against the police is very constant. Not just since the “social uprising” in 2019, but for a long time. As for the anarchists, this includes not only street fighting, but also other forms of attacks such as bombs, assassinations. etc.

It is normal that this brings consequences in different aspects, which collide primarily between the anarchists themselves and not with the institutions of power. Our presentation will review and talk about a handful of anarchist prisoners in Chile who were persecuted not only by society, but also by comrades* who believe that their methods were not “correct”. This will be followed by an open debate on what methods are valid for anarchist action in a world mired in misery, and what situations we still have to live through so that anarchist prisoners are not forgotten.

The lecture will be given in German by a native Spanish speaker.

@ 5 pm: Women form groups – The development of anarcho-feminist groups in Greece in recent years: Presentation by the group “Salome” from Athens.

In recent years, something unprecedented has happened in Greece. A great many women’s groups were founded in the anarchist space and beyond, while at the same time the Greek “Metoo” broke out. The respective feminist wave was late in coming to Greece and so far did not find wide acceptance in the society of the “patriarchal south”. The aim is, after a brief historical review of the presence of women’s groups in the anarchist movement since the ’80s, to present the picture of the anarchist feminist movement of our time, to look for the causes of the mass formation of women’s groups, their orientation, their connection to the broader society and their limits.

We also want to talk briefly about the situation of women and people in weaker social positions more generally in Greece, the consequences of the lock downs, the ongoing economic crises and the spread of exploitation.

Since 2019 at the latest, the climate justice movement has also become a clearly perceptible part of the left-wing protest spectrum in Austria. With blockades, occupations and spontaneous gatherings, a broad spectrum of action forms is used. The deliberate concealment of identity is just as much a part of this as a well-choreographed action plan and professional press work. Highlights were the construction site occupations in the Lobau and the international protests against the “European Gas Conference”.

In the event we want to discuss how the repressive authorities react to the forms of action from the climate movement, what has changed in recent years and where we observe similarities and differences in comparison with other social movements.
